About
A 5 oz. Triple Maple, now with black rhodium plating.
Triple Maple returns in 2026 with a striking addition: black rhodium plating that offers maximum contrast. Unlike the 1 oz. silver and 1 oz. gold editions, this 5 oz. Triple Maple uses the black rhodium as an accent against the brilliant field, with the leaves rendered in black for a sleek, contemporary effect. They remain defined by their unmistakable contours, their shapes made more prominent by the play of light and shadow in this modern reimagining.
Classic engraving. Classic Canadiana.
Special features
- Second release of the Triple Maple. Introduced in 2025, Triple Maple features an inspiring trio of Canadian maple leaves presented in a realistic art style that emphasizes their natural beauty and form.
- Famous maple species. A familiar sight on Canadian coins, sugar maple leaves remain a favourite among collectors, whose collections likely include other coins designed and/or engraved by the artist-engraver.
- Available in silver and gold. Your coin is masterfully crafted in 5 oz. of 99.99% pure silver with a large diameter (65.25 mm) that makes it the largest-sized Triple Maple, which is also available in 1 oz. fine silver and 1 oz. pure gold.
- Struck in a proof finish. Unlike the 1 oz. silver and 1 oz. gold editions, your 5 oz. coin features a proof finish with a highly reflective, mirror-like field.
- Limited supply. A must-have for maple leaf lovers and fans of classic engraving, this 5 oz. 99.99% pure silver Triple Maple has a low mintage of just 1,550 coins available worldwide.
- Includes serialized certificate. The Royal Canadian Mint certifies all of its collector coins.
- No GST/HST.
Packaging
Your coin is encapsulated and presented in a black Royal Canadian Mint-branded clamshell with a black beauty box.
Features
Black rhodium plating
A new Triple Maple design feature in 2026, black rhodium plating offers maximum contrast. It is used as an accent here, the largest of the 2026 Triple Maple coins, which features a sleek, contemporary composition of black maple leaves and a matching rim.
Designed and sculpted by retired Senior Engraver Stan Witten
The maple leaf arrangement was created, photographed, sketched, and then sculpted by retired Senior Engraver Stan Witten, who was inspired by fallen leaves in his backyard. Triple Maple reflects Stan’s passion for his craft and his love of nature, which has shaped his vision and approach to sculpting maple leaves during his 35-year career.

The reverse design by retired Senior Engraver Stan Witten features an arrangement of three sugar maple (Acer saccharum) leaves. Gently overlapping, the leaves are plated with black rhodium and tilted towards the right to convey movement, as though the leaves are falling or have just landed on the ground, while still allowing a clear view of their intricate vein pattern. The obverse features the effigy of His Majesty King Charles III by Canadian artist Steven Rosati.
