Anna Bucciarelli, Artist

“I organized the design in concentric circles that radiate outward from a central element set with three large stones. On the outer ring, I introduced two repeating shapes inspired by the original necklace—one oval and one circular—arranged in a rhythmic pattern that gently echoes the smaller key components of the ruby necklace. Moving inward, I chose a much lighter, more open filigree for the inner ring, without any stones, but with lines and flourishes reminiscent of the architecture of that era. This creates a lace-like transition from the necklace-inspired elements toward the pendant, allowing the design to breathe while still feeling rich and ornate. Within each link of this filigree, I wove maple leaves and Tudor roses, subtle emblems of both Canada and England.”

“It’s been an honour to help bring this tribute to life. Inspired by the elegance of the Baring Ruby Necklace, this coin is a breathtaking celebration of Queen Elizabeth II’s legacy. ”

“Complementary scrollwork—particularly circular motifs framed by embellishments, as seen here—is always a challenge to execute because the engraving must respect the size and alignment of surrounding elements. Achieving this balanced look required meticulous precision, but I love the result: filigree with sweeping lines, delicate floral details, and the Tudor rose, which appears on all our 2026 Crown Jewels coins.”
