About
Canada’s Bluenose coin, reimagined as multilayered art.
The follow-up to 2025’s Multilayered Beaver, this large-format 99.99% pure silver coin elevates Emanuel Hahn’s 10-cent Bluenose coin design, transforming it into an immersive scene through the magic of Multilayered Engraving. While several key details—including a new, symbolic wave pattern—are engraved onto the upper surface like a typical coin, cut-outs expose a secondary layer of art beneath, adding visual depth to this familiar seascape.
Second circulation-themed Multilayered coin.
Special features
- Innovative technology. Pioneered by the Royal Canadian Mint’s R&D researchers, Multilayered Engraving unlocks additional design space by engraving behind the top plate, on the coin’s inside surface.
- Standalone layers. The engraved sky background doesn’t end where the subject (Bluenose) begins—this is a true multilayered composition.
- Large format. A 55 mm diameter is just the right size for such a layered composition and all of its engraved complexities.
- A limited collectible. Only 1,750 coins are available to collectors worldwide—a very low mintage due to the complex minting process. Similar coins—2020’s From R&D Lab: Multilayered Polar Bear prototype, 2021’s Multilayered Cougar coin, and 2025’s Multilayered Beaver—sold out quickly!
- Includes serialized certificate. The Royal Canadian Mint certifies all of its collector coins.
- No GST/HST.
Packaging

Features
A multilayered Bluenose
Canada’s 10-cent circulation coin is reimagined as a multilayered piece! By layering the artwork and unlocking an additional surface within, this innovative technique adds dimensional depth to a classic design and infuses it with modern vitality.
New design elements
The addition of clouds adds a cinematic quality to this dimensional seascape, while the wavy patterns—curvilinear on the reverse, radiant on the obverse—consist of 10 lines for 10 cents.

A re-imagining of Canada’s 10-cent circulation coin as multilayered art, the reverse features the words “CANADA”, “10 CENTS” and “2026” engraved on the top plate, with a cut-out revealing a partly cloudy sky engraved on the interior surface, while Emanuel Hahn’s iconic rendering of Bluenose at sea appears to float above it. Curvilinear patterns, each composed of 10 interlaced lines symbolizing 10 cents, appear on the reverse’s top plate and on the obverse, which features the effigy of His Majesty King Charles III by Canadian artist Steven Rosati.
‘Bluenose’ is an official mark adopted and used by the Nova Scotia Department of Communities, Culture and Heritage pursuant to the Trademarks Act (Canada). It is used by the Royal Canadian Mint with the Department’s permission.
