Visit the Mint

Winnipeg Location

Monday, July 6, 2020 the Royal Canadian Mint will reopen its boutique. Tours of the Winnipeg facility will be resuming on Monday, July 13. Guests wanting to take a tour must call ahead and book a reservation, 204-984-1144. There will be limited walk-up tours available. A full list of our COVID-19 RESPONSE IS AVAILABLE HERE.

We are committed to doing everything we can to keep our employees, customers and visitors healthy and safe. As the COVID-19 situation is ongoing, we will be closely monitoring the situation and adjusting our operations as needed.

Before Your Visit

  • Before your visit to the Royal Canadian Mint, please complete Manitoba's COVID-19 online screening tool to assess whether you are healthy. If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, please schedule your visit to the RCM to a later date.
  • Call 204-984-1144 to make a reservation as we are limiting occupancy at our facility. Check-in at the outdoor tent (weather permitting) 10 minutes before your tour, and wait outside until your tour is called by your guide.

The Winnipeg location is our high-tech, high-volume manufacturing facility. Every single Canadian circulation coin is produced here— literally billions each year. Established in 1976, the Winnipeg plant occupies a 14,864 m2 state-of-the-art facility.

Visit the Winnipeg boutique at 520 Lagimodière Blvd. to add to your coin collection, find exciting gift ideas and take home some Mint memorabilia or take a guided tour and discover the wonders of high-speed, high-volume coin production.

Plan your visit to the Winnipeg Mint

  • Join one of our friendly tour guides (English or French) for a walk through the newly-renovated tour area featuring interactive coin displays
  • Discover how the Mint has made over 55 billion coins for more than 75 countries around the world
  • Learn how massive strips of metal meet 50-ton presses to produce over 1000 coins per second
