The Accountant is responsible for assisting the Finance team in supporting general accounting functions.
Main responsibilities consist of: recording daily transactions to support various processes including order to cash, procure to pay, record to report, capital assets, etc., the preparation of account reconciliations and analysis as well as financial statement note preparation.
Requirements
Language Requirements: Bilingualism is an asset
Education and Previous Experience:
- 2-3 years of general accounting experience
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or related field would be an asset
- Currently enrolled or intention to enroll in the CPA program would also be considered an asset
- Prior experience with external auditors and audit requirements
Skills and Ability:
- Excellent organizational and communication skills (oral and written)
- Displays a high level of accuracy, neatness and reliability
- Displays good judgement in carrying out duties and a positive work attitude
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to handle confidential information
- Ability to learn, grow and continuously improve
- Computerized accounting system MS Dynamics AX (DAX) skills
- Prepare daily transactions in DAX with supporting evidence for multiple transaction processes
- Prepare account reconciliations for various accounts in a timely manner
- Prepare the capital asset schedule including properly accounting for additions, disposals and depreciation expense
- An ability to understand various accounting processes
- An ability to adapt to change
- Prepare and document notes to financial statements with supporting documentation
- Generate miscellaneous reports for management/other Finance stakeholders as required
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of accounting processes, in particular in the order to cash and procure-to-pay processes
- General knowledge of international financial reporting standards
