Delight in the beauty of this pure gold four-coin set, which features a unique design inspired by a historic crown! On all four 99.99% pure gold coins, Her Majesty’s stately Diamond Diadem is paired with the maple leaves that are the hallmarks of our annual fractional set.

The same crown is featured on the obverse, where the historic effigy by Dorade Pédery-Hunt makes its grand reappearance. And onthe 1 oz. coin, selective platinum plating adds a luxurious sheen to both the popular symbol of Canada and the historic crown that is so closely associated with Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

The maple celebration extends to the packaging! Your complete set is enclosed in a custom wooden case shaped like a maple leaf and crafted from hard maple wood. The certificate is held in place inside the hinged lid, while each coin is safely nestled in a black velvet insert.

The Diamond Diadem is the official name for the George IV State Diadem, which was created for King George IV’s coronation in 1821. Her Majesty wore the diadem in the famous accession portrait taken by Dorothy Wilding and during the coronation procession in 1953. Her Majesty has also worn, and continues to wear, the diadem to all State Openings of British Parliament.

The Diamond Diadem is set with 1,333 sparkling diamonds, including the four-carat pale yellow sparkler at the centre of the front cross pattée. The crosses alternate with a floral design that incorporates the national emblems of England (rose), Ireland (shamrock) and Scotland (thistle).

Sculptor and medalist Dora de Pédery-Hunt, CMO Ont, was the first Canadian to design a royal effigy for our coinage. This is the effigy featured in this fractional set and on most Canadian coins issued between 1990 and 2002.

Design & Artist

Your four coins feature a reverse design that pairs two sugar maple (Acer saccharum) leaves with an artistic interpretation of the Diamond Diadem worn by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The overlapping arrangement on the 1 oz. coin is enhanced with platinum plating as a tribute to the Diamond Diadem. On all four coins, the reverse includes the words “CANADA”, the coin’s purity and weight, and the year “2022”. Each obverse features the historic effigy of Her Majesty by Dora de Pédery-Hunt.
